TiviMate Firestick setup takes about five minutes. TiviMate is an Android IPTV player you sideload onto a Firestick, it does not come with channels built in. You bring your own M3U or Xtream playlist, and TiviMate organises it into a proper TV-style guide.
How to install TiviMate on Firestick
Firestick blocks unknown app installs by default, so you need to flip one setting before anything else will work.
Step 1: Enable apps from unknown sources
- Go to Settings on your Firestick home screen.
- Select My Fire TV, then Developer Options.
- Toggle Install Unknown Apps on.
- Find the Downloader app in the list and switch it to On.
If Downloader is not already on your device, search for it in the Amazon Appstore and install it first.
Step 2: Download TiviMate with downloader
- Open Downloader.
- In the URL field, type the direct APK address from TiviMate’s official site, or use a short URL you have confirmed points to the official APK.
- Download and install the file.
- Once installed, you can delete the APK to free up space.
Always get the APK from the official TiviMate site or a source you can actually verify. Fake builds exist, and some carry adware.
Step 3: Add TiviMate to your home screen
After installation, TiviMate sits in your apps list. Long-press it and select Move to front so it stays accessible without digging through menus every time.
Adding your playlist to TiviMate Firestick
TiviMate supports two playlist formats. Here is when to use each:
| Playlist type | What you need | Best used when |
|---|---|---|
| M3U URL | A direct link ending in .m3u or .m3u8 | Your provider gives you a URL to paste |
| Xtream Codes | Server address, username, password | Your provider sends login credentials instead of a link |
If your provider gave you an M3U file rather than a URL, you can convert it using the M3U to Xtream converter before adding it to TiviMate.
Adding an M3U playlist
- Open TiviMate and select Add Playlist.
- Choose M3U playlist.
- Paste your URL and give the playlist a name.
- TiviMate will fetch the channel list and pull EPG data if the URL includes a guide link.
Adding an Xtream Codes playlist
- Select Add Playlist, then Xtream Codes API.
- Enter the server URL (without a trailing slash), your username, and your password.
- TiviMate connects and downloads your full channel and VOD list.
Not sure whether your URL or credentials work before you start? Run them through the IPTV stream checker first. It tells you whether the endpoint responds and whether channels are actually serving video.
TiviMate free vs premium on Firestick
The free version works fine for single-playlist setups. Premium adds features that start to matter once you are watching a lot of live TV.
| Feature | Free | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Number of playlists | 1 | Unlimited |
| Recording | No | Yes |
| Multiple EPG sources | No | Yes |
| Parental controls | No | Yes |
| Catch-up / time-shift | No | Yes |
| Picture-in-picture | No | Yes |
To activate Premium, install the TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone or tablet, purchase the subscription there, and log in on your Firestick using the same account. The Firestick itself cannot complete the purchase because it runs in a restricted Android environment.
Troubleshooting TiviMate on Firestick
Most problems come down to one of three things: the playlist is broken, the Firestick is running low on resources, or the video decoder setting is wrong.
Buffering
Buffering on TiviMate Firestick usually traces back to one of these:
- Slow connection. Use the IPTV speed test to check your actual throughput. HD streams typically need at least 10 Mbps, and 4K streams need considerably more.
- Wrong decoder. Go to Settings > Player > Hardware acceleration and switch between Hardware and Software decoding. Some channels play cleanly on one and stutter badly on the other.
- Firestick memory full. Clear the cache for TiviMate under Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications. Older Firestick models have limited RAM and can slow down noticeably after long sessions.
- Provider-side issue. If only certain channels buffer and your speed checks out, the problem is on your provider’s server, not your setup.
EPG not loading
If your guide shows no programme data, check whether the EPG URL is still valid. Some M3U playlists include the guide URL automatically. If yours does not, your provider should supply a separate XMLTV URL you can add under Settings > Playlists > EPG.
Channels not showing
If TiviMate loads but shows no channels, the playlist URL has likely expired. Go to Settings > Playlists, delete the existing entry, and re-add it with a fresh URL. Use the IPTV stream checker to confirm the new URL is live before adding it.
You can also browse what channels a playlist contains before committing to it using the IPTV channel viewer, which reads an M3U and lists every stream inside it.
TiviMate crashes on launch
This is usually a memory issue on older Firestick models. Force-stop TiviMate, clear its cache, then relaunch. If crashes keep happening after a recent TiviMate update, check whether a previous APK version is available and consider rolling back until a fix is out.
TiviMate settings worth changing on Firestick
The defaults are fine for basic use, but a few adjustments make a real difference day to day on Firestick specifically.
Buffer size. Under Settings > Player, increasing the buffer size reduces short interruptions, especially on Wi-Fi. Start at 10 seconds and go higher if you still see stuttering.
Channel change animation. Turn it off. On lower-end Firestick models, the animation adds a noticeable delay when switching channels, which gets irritating fast.
Auto-update playlist. Set this to update once a day rather than on every launch. Fetching a large playlist every time you open the app slows startup considerably.
Time-shift. If you are on Premium, enabling time-shift lets you pause, rewind, and restart live TV. You will need a USB drive connected to your Firestick with enough free space to write recordings.
Frequently asked questions
Is TiviMate free on Firestick? The base TiviMate app is free. The Premium tier, which unlocks multiple playlists, recordings, and parental controls, requires a paid subscription through the TiviMate Companion app.
Why does TiviMate say ‘playlist not found’ on Firestick? This usually means the M3U URL has expired or your provider changed it. Paste the URL into the free IPTV checker at /tools/iptv-test to confirm it responds before entering it in TiviMate.
Can I use an M3U playlist and Xtream Codes at the same time in TiviMate? Yes, but only on TiviMate Premium. The free version allows one playlist at a time.
TiviMate keeps buffering on Firestick. What should I check first? Run a speed test at /tools/iptv-speed-test to rule out a slow connection. If your speed is fine, try switching the player decoder in TiviMate Settings from Hardware to Software, or vice versa.
Does TiviMate work on all Firestick models? TiviMate runs on any Firestick model that supports Android 5.0 or later, which includes the Firestick 4K, Firestick 4K Max, Firestick Lite, and current Fire TV Cube models.
